Will conduct 50,000 coronavirus tests in Hyderabad in 10 days: Telangana CM KCR
Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao said that the decision to conduct 50,000 coronavirus tests was taken to contain the novel coronavirus spread with strict measures in Hyderabad and its surrounding areas.
Amid the rising number of novel coronavirus cases, Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao announced on Sunday that 50,000 coronavirus tests will be conducted in 30 assembly segments of Hyderabad in the next seven to ten days as a precautionary measure.
The 30 assembly constituencies, from where 50,000 people will undergo Covid-19 test, are -- Uppal, LB Nagar, Maheshwaram, Ibrahimpatnam, Rajendranagar, Seri Lingampalli, Chevella, Pargi, Vikarabad, Tandoor, Medchal, Malkajgiri, Quthbullapur, Kukatpally, Malakpet, Amberpet, Musheerabad, Khairatabad, Jubilee Hills, Sanath Nagar, Nampally, Karwan, Goshamahal, Charminar, Chandrayangutta, Yakutpura, Bahadurpura, Secunderabad, Secunderabad Cantonment, Patancheru.
Chandrashekar Rao took the decision during a high-level meeting at Pragathi Bhawan on Sunday.
In the meeting, Chandrashekar Rao said that the decision was taken to contain the novel coronavirus spread with strict measures in Hyderabad and its surrounding areas.
He also instructed officials to prepare guidelines for private hospitals and labs with respect to Covid tests, treatment and the fee to be paid.
''The officials should finalise the guidelines for conducting tests, the fee collected by the private labs and hospitals. Offer home Quarantine for those who tested positive but have no serious symptoms," Chandrashekar Rao said.
During the meeting, officials informed Chandrashekar Rao that compared to other states, the spread of the virus is less in Telangana.
They also said that there is an increase in the percentage of recoveries while there is a fall in the death rate.
Health official further said told Chandrashekar Rao: "Compared to other places in the state, a number of positive cases being registered are more in Hyderabad, Rangareddy and Medchel districts followed by Sangareddy and Vikarabad districts."
