National Award-winning lyricist and screenwriter Javed Akhtar has won the prestigious Richard Dawkins Award for critical thinking, holding religious dogma upto scrutiny, advancing human progress and humanist values. He is the only Indian to have won this award!

Coronavirus: Delhi needs to arrange 60,000 new beds in just 1.5 months

Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia today said the govt has estimated that by July 31, Delhi would have 5.5 lakh novel coronavirus cases. With the number of novel coronavirus rising rapidly in the national capital, the Arvind Kejriwal-led government in Delhi is staring at a towering task i.e. to arrange 60,000 beds in just 1.5 months. Speaking to reporters today, Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia said the government has estimated that the total number of Covid-19 cases in Delhi will rise to 5.5 lakh by July 31. He said this means the government would then require 80,000 beds to handle these cases. This statement comes two days after Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, in a virtual press conference, said there are about 20,000 beds available in Delhi at present.
